Original idea about Katara comforting him when his bending was taken away came to me from lariren-shadow via omnipresent lj, and OH HOW I liked it.

In case anyone is interested, I have a drabble series/story about Katara visiting Ozai on my FanFiction.Net account, under the same username. It's called "Unexpected Kinship." It was kind of experimental on my part, just to see how the two would interact.
