The most important part of anyone's personality is their childhood and now they decide to reflect on their past. Their past is linked to who they've become.

Some time before the massacre.
Itachi suffering a pang of his disease, Mikoto nursing him, Sasuke being curious.
...Until Fugaku arrives, asking:
- Why are you still coddling him, Mikoto? He's a shinobi, not a helpless child. Stop it.

Perhaps, these were Itachi's last memories of his mother being loving and caring...

Nice art.Also:
I hever liked Fugaku much.Sometimes I think Itachi had another reason to kill his parents beside the ultimate one.Fugako never seemed to show much affection to his kids despite Mikoto`s assurance he talks only about Sasuke.
