Red Riding Hood and the Moose by jesterry Red Riding Hood and the Moose by jesterry
Second entry for Drawing Contest : Red Riding Hood hosted by Mr-Ripley

Looks like this is even more disturbing than the first one :faint: Yet I couldn't resist making it nonetheless
Been looking for suitable textures and found the both of them equally fitting for the very idea of a dangerous retake on the classic fairytale, hence here comes the iteration with even moar creepiness. And determination to travel along your path no matter what creatures might want to hinder your advance.

The wolf might be blind (or it could have a Byakugan), but it still can smell.
The White Moose is something from deeper rims of subconscious.
The owl only looks cutesy-cute, don't be tricked.
The red wheel is... Oh well. The appreciation for one Hieronimus Bosch is glaringly abundant :D
Feel free to interpret and share your versions!

Background texture overpaint: 82 by Infrablack-stock
With a closeup, where the Red Riding Hood is carrying a basket full of Universe :faint: Seriously.

You are very welcomeHug , that's okay :) Sir Guy of Gisborne was Robin Hood's archenemy if you look him up you will find he had quite a tragic story, tragic but interesting Nod

Yeah, I googled him up  It's an interesting transition of contexts we have here, from Red Riding Hood to Robin Hood's legends... I like it! :la: Woods, mysteries, tragedies, hoods, bravehearts... Yeah

Yes Nod I have for quite some time crossed the two stories, I find their combination makes for a interesting dark fantasy.:) (Smile)

Good old Bosch looks for me too soft, comparing to this. The guy at the very right (together with the owl and co) made me remember Goya's "The sleep of reason" at once, the picture which terrified me through my childhood...

Good ole' Bosch - soft? :faint: Oh c'mon! :D  [Trigger warning: it's purest form of high-class insanity over there, gore and blood only adding to the situation itself] His softness is absolutely one of a kind, we can only as much as mimic the most prominent of its various features. And since you mentioned graphics, this reminded me also of Bosch's watchful forests and listening fields (or wait, was it vice-versa?) couldn't resist the reference here, oh dear my
The guy on the right is some unfinished werefox, and everything that is deliberately unfinished sometimes manifests this disturbing quality to them...

 Nevertheless.
The linked clip approves this: the author evidently thought that Bosch himself is not creepy enough, and added some more blood, cut limbs and hardcore from him(her)self

But speaking seriously, everyone has his\her triggers, and in my case Bosh does not touch them (maybe because humans on his pictures don't express much emotions, fear of suffering included, so I, as a watcher, don't transfer my own feelings there), while Goya stamps on them with his feet. When I first saw their pictures (well, photos of them, of course) I was a child, unaware of what exactly was painted on them, so I "scanned" mostly emotions.  Bosch was as a book of fairytales for me, full of strange characters in strange intercourse - but none of them was showing any sign of terror or suffering, so it was like Иванушка from Конёк-Горбунок, who had jumped into a bowl of boiling milk, but went out even prettier than before...
While Goya with his characters' faces deformed with negative emotions terrified me.

But - well, it's personal of course.

I totally didn't expect the theme would carry me away as it did! And yet it did, couldn't resist the pull :D Thank you :)
I've been painting in and out of this piece for the last couple of days, ever since I learnt of your contest (it's State holidays here, so there was time, thankfully :phew:)
